Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song worldwide within just 6 months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton not only brought renewed attention to reggaeton but it also drew interest to Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish by 2016 compared to just two songs in 2015. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see it will have 41 tracks within this genre. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. Then, various artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars like Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 Reggaeton's mainstreaming was a concern for some performers during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and others into his music.
